Basic Narrative Analysis

The course explores the historical and contemporary narrative theories of drama and cinema. Students will learn the concepts and terms most commonly used in film analysis, and how to use these concepts and terms in writing their own analysis of a film or group of films.

Celebrity Culture

The subject explores the various facets of celebrity culture. It encompasses the analysis of cultural approaches to celebrity, ranging from the historical development, the relationships between celebrity and related media, and the study of specific celebrity case studies.

Creative Thinking

This course is designed to equip communication students with the knowledge and skills to develop and implement creative ideas in their field. Film Studies

Film Studies introduces students to film art and film form, with a particular emphasis on narrative filmmaking. Students will be exposed to the fundamentals and key concepts in film form and film style in order for them to develop the ability to evaluate and articulate filmic works.

This subject approaches Investor relations (IR) from a multidisciplinary perspective. It is a corporate communication activity, which combines the disciplines of communication and finance, along with other related areas, in an effort to maximise shareholders’ wealth.

Music Cultures of the World

This subject introduces students to the classical, folk and popular music of selected communities in Asia, Africa, and America. Elements of the musical system or style, such as scale, melody, meter, rhythm, timbre, form, texture and the musical concepts of different cultures are compared.

Political Communication

This course introduces students to political communication with the primary focus on the roles media and media professionals play in the planning, crafting, and disseminating of persuasive campaign messages targeted to different audiences or constituencies.

Principles of Mass Communication

This subject takes a comprehensive and balanced look at the changing world of mass media. Through the different topics studied, the students will gain a global perception of the history and evolution of the mass media and will obtain a general understanding in the usage and effect of different media.

World Cinema

In this subject, students will be introduced to films and cinematic traditions beyond the Hollywood film industry by focusing on films made in Asia (South Asian, Southeast Asian, East Asian and West Asian), Africa, South America and Europe.
