Overview
The Bachelor of Arts in Game Art Design (BGAD) is a forward-thinking Creative Multimedia programme offered by the School of Arts and Design. It provides a focused yet comprehensive education that prepares aspiring game artists to make meaningful contributions across the entire game development pipeline.
While the programme places a strong emphasis on developing expertise in game art, including character design, environment art and animation, it also equips students with a thorough understanding of the complete game development process. From concept ideation and game design to the creation of a playable prototype (known as a vertical slice), students gain valuable insight into how their artistic contributions integrate within the broader game production ecosystem.
To support this interdisciplinary approach, the curriculum incorporates essential subjects in game design and entrepreneurship. These components enable students not only to produce compelling visual content but also to understand interactive storytelling, player experience, game mechanics and the commercial aspects of the games industry.
Graduates emerge as highly skilled game artists and creative collaborators, equipped with the knowledge, technical expertise and entrepreneurial mindset to become the next generation of innovative game creators and industry leaders.
