The Department of Accounting, Finance and Economics, ºìÐÓÊÓƵ Business School, proudly hosted the Best Accounting Graduate and Book Prize Award Ceremony 2025, a highly anticipated annual event that celebrates the achievements of outstanding students and recognises their dedication to academic excellence. The ceremony brought together lecturers, students, families, and industry representatives for an afternoon of pride and inspiration.

The event began with a warm welcome by the emcee, setting the tone for an afternoon that was not just about distributing awards, but about honouring the effort, sacrifices, and perseverance that underpin student success. Associate Professor Dr Calvin Cheong, Deputy Dean of ºìÐÓÊÓƵ Business School, officiated the event with an inspiring address, followed by words of acknowledgement from Ms Choo Sook Yin, Head of the Department of Accounting, Finance and Economics. Their speeches highlighted the significance of academic excellence, integrity, and the continuous partnership between academia and the profession.
The highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of book prizes across a wide range of accounting, finance, and economics modules. For each subject, a sponsor representative and lecturer joined the stage to present awards to the top-performing students.

The most awaited moment of the afternoon was the announcement of the Best Accounting Graduate Award 2025, which was presented to Esther Ngu Koh Swan. Her consistent academic excellence, impeccable leadership qualities, and contribution to the department set her apart as the top graduate of the year. The announcement was met with resounding applause, reflecting the pride of the entire department in her achievements.

This year’s ceremony was made possible through the generous sponsorship of leading firms and professional bodies who continue to support and inspire the next generation of accountants and finance professionals. The department expressed its deepest appreciation to Deloitte, BDO, MICPA-CAANZ, AICPA & CIMA, CPA Australia, Morison LC, PwC, and the Financial Planning Association of Malaysia (FPAM) for sponsoring the prizes. Their commitment extends beyond financial support, symbolising their dedication to nurturing talent and strengthening the bond between education and the industry. Tokens of appreciation were presented to representatives from each sponsor as a gesture of gratitude.

The event also emphasised the collective effort behind every student’s success. Lecturers were acknowledged for their tireless guidance and encouragement, families and friends for their unwavering support, and sponsors for their belief in the value of education. The sense of community was further reinforced during the group photo sessions, which brought together winners, lecturers, sponsors, and families to commemorate the celebration.

The afternoon concluded with heartfelt thanks extended to everyone present and a reminder that the awards symbolise not just recognition of past achievements but also the promise of future contributions to the accounting and finance profession. Guests were invited to enjoy light refreshments and networking opportunities, allowing students to connect with industry representatives in a relaxed atmosphere.

The Best Accounting Graduate and Book Prize Award Ceremony 2025 was a true celebration of academic excellence, perseverance, and collaboration. It served as a powerful reminder of the values upheld by the Department of Accounting, Finance and Economics and the collective commitment to shaping ethical, capable, and future-ready professionals.
