AI in Action: Showcasing the Future of Business Analytics at Ƶ
For all Bachelor of Business Analytics (Honours) final-year students, the Capstone Project represents the pinnacle of their academic journey, the “cherry on top.” It is their one chance to showcase and apply the knowledge and skills acquired over three years of study. At the same time, it is also one of the most challenging periods, as students are tasked with solving real-world problems sourced through partnerships with industry collaborators.
On 6 August 2025, ten outstanding groups of students presented their Capstone Projects. Each prototype was designed to address genuine business challenges, integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Deep Learning (DL), Robotic Process Automation (RPA), and Business Intelligence (BI) data visualisation into web-based applications.
A unifying feature across the projects was the integration of AI. In a world where “data is the new oil,” the adoption of AI-driven solutions is critical for businesses seeking to transform industries through smarter decision-making, automated workflows, and real-time insights. The students incorporated machine learning and deep learning models into their solutions. Machine learning allows systems to learn patterns from data and make predictions without explicit programming, while deep learning employs neural networks with multiple layers to process large and complex datasets. These approaches were applied to predictive analytics that were used for forecasting outcomes and classification, which assigns items into predefined categories. In addition to ML and DL, the projects also featured data visualisation, large language models (LLMs), RPA, and system integration.
The champion of the showcase was Speak2Order, a voice-enabled AI system that allows users to place orders simply by speaking. The team developed a voice-driven order automation system that streamlines Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) workflows by integrating LLMs with Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG). This ensured accurate product catalogue mapping through three main features: intelligent classification, error resilience, and adaptive learning. Intelligent classification enabled accurate mapping of voice or text orders with RAG support; error resilience reduced the likelihood of misclassification; and adaptive learning improved system accuracy with every interaction.
The inclusion of RPA elevated Speak2Order further. The system automated ERP entries, validations, and document generation with minimal human intervention, reducing errors and workload while ensuring seamless operations. With AI-assisted order confirmation, automatic generation of invoices, and scalable infrastructure, the project demonstrated how organisations can expand operations without additional manpower.
The combination of AI-driven classification and RPA-driven execution set a new benchmark for digital transformation in enterprise systems. Speak2Order illustrated how businesses can move from manual processes to intelligent automation, achieving workflows that are faster, cleaner, and more reliable.
Ultimately, the 2025 Capstone Showcase reaffirmed the strength of Ƶ’s Business Analytics programme in shaping graduates who can innovate with purpose. The students not only demonstrated technical mastery, but also the creativity and problem-solving mindset needed to drive meaningful organisational change.
