Take Bryan Ng Meng Chuen, a standout graduate of our BSc (Hons) in Industrial Statistics programme, whose career exemplifies the transformative power of statistical expertise.

Building a Strong Foundation
During his studies, Bryan stood out for his analytical curiosity and dedication to data-driven problem-solving. His internship at AIA PUBLIC Takaful gave him hands-on experience applying statistical methods in a corporate environment, setting the stage for his future success.

Transforming Data into Action
Today, Bryan serves as a Senior Executive at Public Bank, where he plays a pivotal role in the Financial Crime Compliance unit within the Compliance Division. His responsibilities include enhancing transaction monitoring systems and analyzing banking data—covering customers, accounts, and transactions—to uncover potential money laundering activities and detect emerging trends.
One of his key contributions is his involvement in a machine learning–based Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Transaction Monitoring project, where he leverages advanced analytics to improve fraud detection. Bryan also demonstrates strong proficiency in SAS data extraction, regulatory reporting (QRF) to Bank Negara Malaysia, and ensuring data integrity—highlighting the versatility and value of his Industrial Statistics training.
