After graduating as a top-performing student and earning the prestigious Tan Sri Sir Jeffrey Cheah Scholastic Award, my academic journey through the Master of Marketing programme at ºìÐÓÊÓƵ Business School has been truly transformative. It not only deepened my passion for marketing but also laid a powerful foundation that inspired and equipped me to pursue a PhD in Marketing.

After completing my Bachelor’s degree and exploring options for further studies, I was drawn to ºìÐÓÊÓƵ Business School’s Master of Marketing programme for its accelerated one-year duration and prestigious dual award partnership with Lancaster University. The comprehensive course design not only deepened my theoretical knowledge but also provided valuable hands-on experiences, offering opportunities to tackle real-world marketing challenges. One of the most memorable highlights was the pitching session with Dutch Lady during the Marketing Communication course. 

My team and I were named first runner-up in the session, where we presented our campaign proposal directly to the brand’s marketing leaders, supported by mentors from Omnicom Media Group and PHD Media Malaysia, and received valuable feedback and evaluations. Beyond the classroom, I was appointed as the Student Representative for my intake cohort, where I advocated for Master of Marketing student welfare by raising concerns and feedback during the Student-Staff Committee Meetings.

A life-changing turning point during the course was the individual research project, where I conducted academic research and produced my first thesis under the guidance of my supervisor. The journey of understanding research methodology, applying it in practice, and crafting a quality thesis was challenging, yet deeply rewarding. As I devoted more time and effort, I discovered the beauty of empirically testing unexplored ideas and contributing new perspectives to the body of knowledge. This experience ignited my passion for research and affirmed my capabilities, leading me to pursue a PhD in Business at the Department of Marketing Strategy & Innovation. My research focuses on Sustainable Marketing and Consumer Psychology. Motivated by a desire to advance both scholarly understanding and practical insights, I prepared my PhD research proposal with the knowledge, skills, and experiences gained from the Master’s programme. As a result, I stood out during the evaluation process and was awarded the competitive ºìÐÓÊÓƵ University PhD Studentship Award, marking the beginning of my doctoral journey at ºìÐÓÊÓƵ Business School.

I chose to continue my doctoral studies at ºìÐÓÊÓƵ Business School because of the truly memorable experience I had during my Master’s journey. I was privileged to learn from experienced and respected lecturers, be mentored by an inspiring and supportive research supervisor, and build meaningful connections with kind and driven coursemates—one of whom has become a lifelong best friend. Although the campus was quieter on weekends when our Master’s classes were held, the confident voices during presentations and the laughter shared during breaks brought warmth and energy to every corner, making those memories especially meaningful to me.

Looking back, completing my Master’s at ºìÐÓÊÓƵ has given me the confidence and courage to reach new heights. What once seemed unimaginable in my childhood, such as advancing to the highest level of education, is now becoming a reality thanks to the unwavering education, mentorship, and support I received at ºìÐÓÊÓƵ Business School. As a PhD student and researcher, I have embraced the pursuit of knowledge as a lifelong mission and am committed to contributing my expertise not only to the university but also to society at large. With excitement and determination, I look forward to challenging myself, overcoming every obstacle, and hopefully, three years from now, celebrating this journey with you as a proud ºìÐÓÊÓƵ alumna who holds a PhD.
