Studying abroad in Malaysia has been one of the most meaningful experiences of my life. I chose this journey because I wanted to broaden my horizons and challenge myself to think more openly. Stepping outside of my comfort zone has always felt like the best way to grow, and this experience truly allowed me to see the world from new perspectives. As I aspire to become a primary school teacher, I know these lessons will be invaluable—especially as classrooms in Japan are becoming increasingly diverse with children from different cultural backgrounds.

I selected Malaysia not only because it is close to Japan, safe, and affordable, but also because I was drawn to its unique mix of cultures, languages, and traditions. Living and learning in such a multicultural environment not only strengthened my English but also deepened my appreciation for diversity and mutual respect. It was the perfect first step in my journey of self-growth.

At ºìÐÓÊÓƵ, I joined an intensive English programme that focused on both writing and speaking. The placement test at the beginning ensured I was placed in a class that suited my level, which made learning both engaging and effective. Beyond improving my writing, I gained something even more valuable—confidence to express myself more freely in English. What made the programme truly special was the supportive environment created by the teachers and classmates, which gave me the courage to push myself further than I thought possible.

Equally meaningful as my studies were the friendships I built along the way. I will never forget the kindness shown to me when I was hospitalized. One of my teachers stayed with me during the admission, making sure I had proper meals and even following up on my recovery. My classmates also came to visit, and their thoughtfulness moved me to tears. In that moment, I realized how genuine and strong the bonds we had formed had become in such a short time.

Another important part of my life in Malaysia was baseball. Before coming, I was worried about whether I could continue training, as I had a major tournament waiting for me back home. Thankfully, I was able to join the ºìÐÓÊÓƵ Baseball Club, where I not only kept up my practice but also found a second family. Weekdays were filled with training and workouts, while weekends brought the joy of time with friends and games on the field. After practices, our team dinners became one of my fondest routines, filled with laughter and camaraderie. Even after returning to Japan, those friendships remained strong—one teammate even visited Tokyo, and I was proud to welcome him as a close friend.

Looking back, the greatest treasure I gained from my month in Malaysia was friendship. From teachers who patiently guided me, to administrative team who supported me with warmth, to classmates and teammates who shared their kindness and joy—I felt welcomed at every step. These bonds are more than just memories; they are connections I will carry with me for the rest of my life. I am already missing Malaysia and looking forward to returning next summer, eager to reunite with the friends who made my time there so unforgettable.
