PLS2024: Advancing Research and Collaboration through PLS-SEM at ������Ƶ University

The 2024 International Conference on Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM), hosted by ������Ƶ Business School at ������Ƶ University from 3rd to 7th September 2024, concluded with great success. This landmark event highlighted significant advancements in PLS-SEM research and methodology, while fostering global academic collaboration and knowledge sharing.

With the theme “Applications and/or Methodological Advances of PLS-SEM,” the conference brought together participants from countries such as Australia, China, Fiji, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Mauritius, Morocco, Romania, Tanzania, Thailand and United Kingdom. Scholars, researchers, practitioners, and students engaged in vibrant discussions and networking to explore cutting-edge research that aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG4): Quality Education.

Workshops and Academic Engagement

The conference opened with a pre-conference workshop titled “Building on the Basics: SmartPLS for Intermediate Researchers,” led by Professor Ramayah Thurasamy. This session provided participants with practical skills in using SmartPLS software for intermediate-level PLS-SEM analysis.

Renowned experts and co-founders of SmartPLS, Professor Dr Christian M. Ringle and Professor Dr hc Marko Sarstedt, delivered keynote speeches that emphasised the latest developments in PLS-SEM, offering critical clarifications to enhance its application in research.

Following the main conference presentations, a post-conference workshop, “Advanced Modeling and Results Illustration in PLS-SEM,” led by Professors Sarstedt and Ringle, explored higher-order constructs, predictive model assessment, and advanced techniques for result visualisation.

Diverse Research Themes and Collaborative Panels

The conference featured a wide array of parallel sessions, covering topics such as:
•    The future of artificial intelligence and digital business strategies
•    Social media marketing, brand management, and consumer engagement
•    Leadership, organisational behaviour, and strategic management
•    Effective teaching and learning strategies in higher education
•    Sustainable business operations and technology-enhanced learning
•    Hospitality, logistics management, and human resource development

These sessions provided a platform for exchanging innovative ideas and research findings aimed at enhancing education and organisational effectiveness across various industries.

Panel discussions provided participants with actionable strategies for academic success. Notably, “Insights from the Editor” and “Unlocking Publication Success” featured journal editors who shared expert guidance on publishing in top-tier academic journals.

Networking and Cultural Exchange

Beyond academic activities, PLS2024 also offered participants opportunities to network and experience Malaysian culture. A cultural tour of Kuala Lumpur highlighted the city’s heritage, while the conference dinner at ������Ƶ Sanctuary’s Level 15 Dining Area allowed for informal discussions and further relationship-building.

The conference’s success was the result of extensive collaboration and teamwork. Led by Chairperson Professor Lim Weng Marc, the organizing committee worked closely with advisors, scientific experts, and logistics teams to deliver a seamless and enriching experience for attendees. The next edition of the PLS-SEM International Conference, PLS2026, is set to take place in Mauritius, continuing the legacy of advancing research and global collaboration in this growing field.

The research insights, collaborations, and practical strategies exchanged during the event are expected to shape future advancements in both PLS-SEM methodology and real-world applications. Furthermore, the focus on effective teaching and learning underscores the event’s contribution to SDG4: Quality Education, demonstrating its role in fostering sustainable and impactful research practices.
