Cracking the Code for Digital Marketing
ºìÐÓÊÓƵ Business School’s Digital Media & Communication Manager, Mr. Walliyaddin Khalik, was invited to Dr. Soon Pei Shan’s Digital Marketing class to share his knowledge and experience with students. The session aimed to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry practices, providing students with a unique opportunity to gain practical insights from an industry professional. Such interactions are instrumental in ensuring that students are well-prepared for the rapidly evolving digital marketing landscape.
Mr Walli shared his extensive expertise and real-world experiences in crafting effective campaign briefs, a crucial aspect of digital marketing. He provided students with a deeper understanding of how marketing strategies are developed and executed in a highly dynamic and competitive digital environment. His presentation focused on the essential components of a well-structured campaign brief, highlighting the significance of identifying clear objectives, understanding target audiences, and formulating creative solutions to meet marketing goals. These skills are directly relevant to the students' ongoing coursework and future careers in the industry.
One of the key takeaways from the session was the emphasis on strategic thinking and practical application. Mr Walli illustrated how a well-crafted campaign brief serves as a blueprint for a successful digital marketing initiative, ensuring all stakeholders are aligned on goals, messaging, and execution plans. By sharing real-world examples and case studies, he helped students connect theoretical concepts with actual industry practices, reinforcing the importance of clarity, research, and creativity in campaign planning.
Following his insightful presentation, students were given the opportunity to put their newly acquired knowledge into practice through the Digital Campaign Creative Brief Challenge. This hands-on activity required students to develop their own campaign briefs based on the principles discussed during the session. Despite the time constraints, many teams rose to the challenge, showcasing their creativity, strategic thinking, and presentation skills. The teams confidently pitched their ideas in a lecture theatre setting to both Mr Walli and Dr Soon, simulating real-world marketing pitching sessions where effective communication and persuasive storytelling play a critical role.
The interactive nature of the session not only reinforced key learning outcomes but also fostered a collaborative environment. Students actively participated, asked insightful questions, further enriching their understanding of digital campaign development. Such experiential learning opportunities are invaluable as they enhance students' confidence and readiness for industry challenges.

Overall, the session was a meaningful and impactful experience that not only deepened students’ academic understanding but also equipped them with practical skills essential for their future careers in digital marketing. By integrating industry perspectives into the curriculum, ºìÐÓÊÓƵ Business School continues to prepare its students for success in an ever-changing digital landscape.
