Managing Risk in the Modern Enterprise

Overview

The course provides a concise overview of risk management, covering key concepts, types of risks, and practical tools for identification and assessment, while teaching response strategies and widely used frameworks like ISO 31000 and COSO ERM. Learners will apply these through case studies and explore future challenges such as cybersecurity, climate risk, and geopolitical uncertainties.

The course aims to equip learners with the knowledge and practical skills to understand, evaluate, and manage risks in modern organisations. It prepares students to anticipate uncertainties, make informed decisions, and apply structured frameworks to safeguard organisational resilience.

By the end of the course, learners will be able to understand the risk environment of modern enterprises, apply structured frameworks to manage risks effectively, identify and evaluate risks using practical tools and techniques, develop risk response strategies aligned with organisational goals, enhance decision-making skills under uncertainty, and contribute to building resilient organisations capable of adapting to change.

On completing the course, students will be able to:

  • Apply risk management concepts in modern enterprise contexts
  • Demonstrate modern enterprise scenarios for risk management and response planning
  • Practice the role of ERM and risk governance in modern enterprise risk management
