ºìÐÓÊÓÆµ University Press Launches Public Relations in Malaysia, Highlighting the Future of Communication Research
The book launch of Public Relations in Malaysia was held on 9 December 2025, bringing together academics, industry practitioners and students for a morning focused on advancing communication research and practice in the country.
The event was officiated by Professor Sibrand Poppema, President and Vice-Chancellor of ºìÐÓÊÓÆµ University, who introduced the book and highlighted the importance of strengthening evidence-based communication research in Malaysia. His remarks set the tone for the session, emphasising the role of scholarly work in shaping the future of the public relations profession.
Author and editor Assoc Prof Dr Cheng Ean Catherine Lee, PhD, later delivered an address sharing the research journey behind the publication and underscoring the need for the industry to be guided by rigorous, research-driven insights.
Also in attendance were Professor Mahendhiran Sanggaran Nair, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research and Sustainability), Professor Mayco Santaella, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, and Ms Carol Wong, Head of ºìÐÓÊÓÆµ University Press.
The launch drew strong participation from academics, practitioners, students and Media Symposium 2025 participants, reflecting growing interest in strengthening the practice and impact of public relations in Malaysia.
