Professor David Lobell of Stanford University discussed key criteria for evaluating regenerative and climate-smart practices and technologies. He also shared strategies for accelerating the collection of evidence on what had proven effective at scale.

As part of his talk, he highlighted the need for significant changes in food production to address climate change and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. While scalable solutions required rapid implementation, many climate-smart approaches lacked demonstrated effectiveness. This posed a challenge: how could action be taken swiftly while remaining grounded in evidence? Professor Lobell addressed this by outlining practical frameworks for assessment and evidence-gathering at scale.
