Biography

Professor Anand Sachithanandan is a highly experienced British board-certified adult cardiothoracic surgeon, trained in both Ireland and the UK. He holds specialist registration in the United Kingdom and Malaysia. A Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, the American College of Surgeons, the International College of Surgeons, and the Academy of Medicine of Malaysia, Professor Sachithanandan is widely respected in his field.

An accomplished surgeon and researcher, Professor Sachithanandan is also deeply committed to education. He has a strong passion for undergraduate teaching and postgraduate training. He currently holds a clinical professorship at the School of Medical & Life Sciences at ºìÐÓÊÓÆµ University and an adjunct professorship at University Malaya. His academic contributions and numerous publications further solidify his reputation as a leader in cardiothoracic surgery.

Professional Associations

Prof Anand is the Founding President of Lung Cancer Network Malaysia (LCNM), a not-for-profit patient-centric NGO that seeks to improve awareness and outcomes for the disease here. Under his leadership LCNM has championed screening for lung cancer including adoption of innovative Al technology and the importance of a multi disciplinary approach to provide optimal care for patients. He has spearheaded several national firsts for lung cancer including a digital patient navigation guide, a patient counselling tool for specialist doctors and evidence-based clinical practice guidelines.
