Message from Head of School

Pauline Leong Pooi Yin

Head of School, Associate Professor

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the School of Communication and Media Studies, where we empower students to become the next generation of creative thinkers, strategic communicators, and media innovators. At the heart of Malaysia’s vibrant education hub, our School offers a dynamic environment that blends academic excellence with real-world relevance.

Our two flagship programmes: the Bachelor of Arts in Communication (Hons) and the Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Advertising and Branding are thoughtfully designed to equip students with the critical thinking skills, practical experience, and global perspective required to thrive in today’s fast-evolving communication landscape.

The BA in Communication (Hons) provides a solid foundation in media studies, public relations and corporate communication. It encourages students to explore the power of storytelling, the influence of media, and the strategic role of communication in shaping public discourse and organisational success.

The BA (Hons) in Advertising and Branding, on the other hand, is tailored for those passionate about creative strategy and brand management. With an emphasis on both creativity and critical insight, students in this programme learn how to craft compelling campaigns that resonate with today’s audiences and drive engagement in a highly competitive market.

Both programmes are industry-oriented, incorporating hands-on projects, internships, and workshops led by experienced professionals. Our students graduate not only with academic knowledge, but also with the practical skills and confidence needed to make an immediate impact in their chosen fields.

In addition, we are proud of our academic partnership with Lancaster University, a prestigious institution ranked among the top universities in the UK. Students in both programmes receive a degree that is validated by Lancaster, opening doors to global opportunities and adding a distinguished international edge to their qualifications.

At the School of Communication and Media Studies, we are more than just a place of learning — we are a community that fosters creativity, innovation, and purpose. I invite you to explore what we have to offer, and I look forward to welcoming you to a transformative academic journey at ºìÐÓÊÓƵ University.
