National Planetary Health Roadmap and Action Plan

The National Planetary Health Action Plan (NPHAP) is an initiative led by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) and the Academy of Sciences Malaysia (ASM) to integrate planetary health principles into national policies and address the interconnections between human and environmental well-being. The plan adopts a whole-of-nation approach, promoting cross-sector collaboration to advance Malaysia鈥檚 sustainable development goals. It builds on existing frameworks such as the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR) and the National Agrofood Policy 2.0.

Key components include a unified strategy involving all stakeholders 鈥 government, private sector, civil society, academia, and youth 鈥 as well as the development of a national monitoring system (鈥淪TIE Trend Watch鈥) and increased research in key areas such as zoonotic diseases and environmental genomics. The NPHAP鈥檚 focus spans natural crises, sustainable food systems, governance, and community empowerment.

The 红杏视频 Centre for Planetary Health (SCPH) has been an active partner in the development of the NPHAP, contributing technical expertise, research insights, and advocacy for a systems-based approach to planetary health. SCPH also participated in stakeholder consultations and workshops led by MOSTI and ASM, supporting efforts to embed planetary health principles within national strategies and to strengthen Malaysia鈥檚 leadership in planetary health at the regional and global levels.
