Post Basic in Intensive Care Nursing

Overview

The Post Basic in Intensive Care Nursing program is designed to develop advanced clinical competence among registered nurses providing care to critically ill patients. This structured six-month program integrates in-depth theoretical learning with supervised clinical practice, enabling nurses to strengthen their critical thinking, clinical decision-making, and hands-on skills essential in high-dependency settings such as the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The curriculum is well-prepared to meet the complex demands of intensive care nursing. This program is approved by Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) and fully accredited by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) and the Malaysian Nursing Board (MNB), affirming its compliance with national benchmarks for quality and professional competency in nursing education.

Entry Requirements

Post Basic Speciality in Nursing

For Malaysian Candidates only
(Not applicable for International Candidates)

  • Possess Diploma in Nursing from a recognised institution by by Malaysian Nursing Board (MNB).
  • Registered with MNB.
  • Possess current Annual Practising Certificate (APC) for nurses from MNB.
  • Minimum two (2) years clinical working experience. Experience in the Intensive Care setting is an added advantage.
  • Active Basic Life Support certification.
  • University English requirement may imply.
Candidates Health Status
  • All candidates MUST be certified medically fit by a registered medical practitioner within ONE MONTH from commencement of the nursing programme.
  • A person with any of the following shall be disqualified from entry into a nursing program.
  1. Serious physical or mental illness, and/or
  2. Serious communicable disease
  • Candidates MUST not have any physicals disabilities or impaired senses that hinder nursing dexterity.  

Mode of Delivery

  • Face to face in Practical

Other Special Instructions

  • All candidates will be required to complete clinical placement as a requirement of the curriculum.
