Biography

Dr. Sim Tze Ying brings a wealth of experience from both industry and academia to her role as Associate Professor at ºìÐÓÊÓƵ University, where she has been a faculty member since 2013. Her early career began at Motorola Semiconductor, Malaysia, where she served as a Systems Engineer from 2000 to 2004. She later spent nearly a decade in Germany as a researcher at the University of Kassel, deepening her expertise in technology-driven education and applied engineering research. Dr. Sim holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice (International) from Lancaster University, UK, which has informed her innovative approach to educational research, particularly in enhancing STEM learning experiences. Her work is grounded in a commitment to improving access to engineering education for underserved communities, blending pedagogy with technology to create inclusive and effective learning environments. Her current research interests span STEM education, student support systems, and the integration of technology in teaching and learning. She is also actively engaged in Building Information Modelling (BIM), particularly in its application for facilities management and its broader adoption within the Architecture, Construction, and Engineering (ACE) industries. Dr. Sim welcomes collaborative opportunities, especially in projects related to STEM education innovation, educational technology, and BIM for built environment applications. Contact Dr. Sim to explore research and collaboration opportunities in these areas.
