International Cultural Experience

Overview

This course offers an in-depth exploration of the cultural, social, and political dimensions that shape communities and influence business and social development. Students will engage with both academic teachings and hands-on experiences that will help them understand and address the challenges faced by modern-day communities. Through lectures, community-based projects, cultural activities, and team-building exercises, students will develop practical skills in problem-solving, group collaboration, and effective communication.

The course covers key themes including British culture, society, and the workplace, as well as intercultural communication and the political landscape of contemporary Britain. Students will also examine pressing social, cultural, and environmental issues in the UK, and explore Britain's global role. These topics will be brought to life through various learning opportunities, including exposure to local industries and businesses, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of the complex issues at play in today's society.

On completing the course, students will be able to:

  1. Express ideas confidently and professionally in a collaborative group presentation.
  2. Demonstrate awareness of personal strengths and weaknesses by engaging collaboratively and reflecting on interpersonal growth.
  3. Synthesise personal experiences, cultural awareness, and ethics in community engagement, identifying strengths, challenges and growth.
