SynopsisThe course analyses different forests ecosystems and their status, services they provide, different programmes for their sustainable management, and the economics behind current forest conservation financial mechanisms. Students will also acquire a thorough understanding of the ecological and evolutionary principles of biodiversity, investigating the relative impacts of environmental factors and historical contexts on biodiversity dynamics.
Learning Outcomes
  • CLO1: Elaborate on changes in biodiversity and forest health due to human activities at local and/or global level (C6, PLO7)
  • CLO2: Manage the relevant strategies for sustainability of threatened forest and biodiverse ecosystems (A4, PLO10)
  • CLO3: Synthesise a comprehensive ethical stance on forest use and its impact
    on biodiversity (A4, PLO11) .
