Overview
This course introduces students to the basics of creating simple, clear visual representations of data. Students will learn how to choose appropriate charts, apply basic design principles, and tell simple stories with data. The course focuses on practical skills that can be immediately applied in any field of study or work. Through step-by-step tutorials and guided practice, students will gain confidence in creating basic visualisations that effectively communicate information to others.
On completing the course, students will be able to:
- Apply basic chart types and design principles to create clear, simple visualisations from data.
- Produce basic data visualisations to create charts, graphs, and simple infographics that convey information clearly.
- Appreciate the importance of honest and accessible visual communication by recognising good and poor visualisation practices.
