Mobility Programme in Artificial Intelligence

Overview

This 2-week mobility programme at North China University of Technology (NCUT) offers a unique blend of academic enrichment and cultural immersion in the heart of Beijing. It is designed for participants eager to expand their knowledge in emerging technologies while experiencing the rich traditions of Chinese culture.

The academic component focuses on Machine Learning and Database Systems, combining theoretical learning with practical engagement. Activities include:

  • Hands-on Lab Training – Participants will work on real-world datasets and tools to reinforce key concepts and build practical skills.
  • Lectures & Workshops – Delivered by experienced faculty, covering the latest trends and applications.
  • Company Visit – An on-site visit to a tech company to observe real-world applications and gain industry insights.
     

Alongside academic training, participants will enjoy a variety of cultural experiences, including but not limited to traditional Chinese painting, calligraphy, tea art, martial arts, and visits to culturally significant locations, designed to deepen their understanding of Chinese heritage.

This programme not only equips participants with valuable technical knowledge but also fosters international exchange, cultural appreciation, and personal growth in a vibrant academic setting.

Entry Requirements

Pre-Requisites
  • Existing students in undergraduate programmes in Faculty of Engineering and Technology with a minimum CGPA of 2.50.
  • Completed the first year of undergraduate study
     

The programme is delivered in the face-to-face mode at NCUT, Beijing. Learning hour is 45 hours per week. 

By the end of this programme, participants will be able to:

Academic Component

  1. Explain core machine learning concepts, such as classification, regression, and deep learning, and apply them in hands-on projects.
  2. Apply industry-aligned AI frameworks to develop machine learning solutions and understand both global and China-specific AI trends.
  3. Critically analyse real-world problems and develop innovative AI-based solutions, fostering cross-domain thinking and practical innovation.
  4. Develop a database-driven solution through iterative, project-centric learning, incorporating database design, SQL, and optimisation.
  5. Apply theoretical and practical knowledge of E-R modelling, SQL querying, and DBMS configuration through case-based practical training.
  6. Demonstrate computational thinking and problem-solving skills by designing schemas and optimising queries to address real-world scenarios.
  7. Collaborate effectively in a cross-cultural, interdisciplinary environment on technical tasks and group discussions.

Cultural Component

  1. Appreciate key aspects of traditional Chinese culture, including its history, philosophy, and aesthetics.
  2. Enhance cross-cultural communication skills and develop a global perspective through meaningful cultural exchange.
