Reading and Thinking Critically

Overview

This online course equips undergraduate students with essential critical thinking and effective reading skills for academic and professional success. Students will learn to evaluate the credibility of sources, analyse complex texts to extract key information and underlying meanings through active reading strategies, and apply these skills to analyse problems for informed decision-making. Through engaging materials and activities, this course fosters the development of thoughtful and discerning individuals capable of navigating information-rich environments and making well-reasoned judgments.

On completing the course, students will be able to:

  1. Use established source credibility and reliabilty criteria effectively.
  2. Demonstrate active reading strategies for complex text analysis.
  3. Apply critical thinking and reading skills for informed decision-making.
